Black and White

Drake was getting a little jealous when I was painting my nails the other night so he got a little pedicure himself.

I'm kinda digging it! :)

12 Hours

What takes 12 plus hours

5 men

4 women

4 little boy helpers

A cooler full of pop, water , and beer

Coffee and muffins in the morning

Subs and chips at lunch

Cookies and Rice Krispies during the afternoon

4 large pizzas

2 trips to Menards

And lots of hard work?

It was worth everything above and more to see Drake's face the first time he went down the slide...joy and happiness were written all over it.

Lots of memories just waiting to made right there.

Wordless Wednesday-Toddler Bed Edition

This is what Drake's bed is looking like these days....very FULL.

It is a tragedy if he does not have all of his "friends", at least 2 pacis, Hot Dog (aka Micky Mouse), 3 blankets, and his pink seahorse (hidden by all the blankets).

Oh toddlerhood- you are full of weirdness and wonderfulness all at the same time!

Welcome to My New House

I'm BACK and all moved in to my new WordPress site! OK, so I guess I still have a little unpacking (aka. blog redesign and makeover) before the move is complete, but new content will be coming your way soon!

Thanks for sticking with me!

P.S. Somebody please tell me why I was so afraid of moving to WordPress. I love it a million times more than Blogger and this is just my 1st day!

P.P.S I worked with JP to move my blog from Blogger to WordPress and I could not be happier with the quick and awesome service!

I've Seriously Lost My Mind....

Or why else would I think that buying these:

For Ben and I to wear to Drake's birthday party would be a good idea.

Sesame Street Characters Will Be The Death of Me

When we took Drake to Sesame Street Live last month we bought him an 8-pack of Sesame Street Characters. Little did we know how obsessed Drake would become with these. For the first few weeks Bert and Ernie had to accompany us everywhere-the grocery store, all car trips, all over the house, even to bed for nap and nighttime.

Then tragedy struck....Bert went missing. For days Drake would yell out "Bert" over and over again as he carried around Ernie without his companion. Ben and I tore apart our house like crazy people looking for the little plastic man who was now controlling our life. We looked in the car, under pillows, got on our hands and knees and looked under all the furniture and still we had no luck. We were thinking about just kidnapping all the Sesame Street Characters to put an end to the madness when a miracle happened-Ernie found a new best friend.

Cookie Monster came to the rescue!!

Since then we've only had about 5 million breakdowns because one or both of the best friends can't be found. Drake is now seen all around town with Ernie in one hand and Cook in the other, happy as can be.

As for me-Let's just say the Great Sesame Street Kidnapping plan has not been laid to rest yet.

You better watch your back Ernie and Cookie Monster. Imma watching you!

Birth Story Featured

I'm excited to share that Drake's birth story is featured over at Spearmint Baby. I was reading it again for the first time in awhile and was so glad I wrote it all down it because I had already forgot some of the details. One thing is for sure- reading the story takes me back to the best day of my life like it was just yesterday (and not almost 2 years ago) and puts a big smile on my face.

Go check out Drake's Birth Story Feature!

Learning From a Toddler

Lately I have found that you can learn a lot about life and how it should be lived by watching a toddler.
  • Saying no can sometimes be the best answer.
  • Walking around barefoot in the summer can't be beat.
  • Sometimes you just need to dance...even if it is on top of a kitchen table.
  • Please and Thank you can get you lots of things.
  • Starting the day off with pancakes is fun.
  • Some of the best memories are created by staying up past your bedtime.
  • It does not matter how cold the water is in the pool, you will get used to it.
  • Taking time for a nap is important.
  • The more messy you are, the more fun you've had.
  • When you are mad nothing feels better than a good ol' fashioned scream.
  • Hot dogs are a food group.
  • Bikes are the best form of summer transportation.
  • If today is a bad day don't worry because tomorrow you get to start all over with a fresh slate.
I think Drake has it right. Sometimes the most simple of things make for the most wonderful memories.

Funny how I'm suppose to be the one teaching the toddler but he seems to be the one teaching me...

Summer Weekends

We live a little differently around here in the summer. We stay up a little later, drink a few more beers, eat a few more grilled hot dogs, take longer walks...we just enjoy. Part of that enjoying for Drake means lots of swimming and spending the whole day in nothing but a diaper.

Drake's own waterpark. He was insistent that Skinner join him for a swim as well.

Seriously, my heart is exploding from the cuteness that is this picture. Boy, dog, water=perfection.

I love my dog. LOVE him. Best dog brother in the world (Yes, I just went there and called Skinner Drake's dog brother.) to my little man.

Drake's official outfit of summer. In other news, is it just me or does he look like he is doing the robot?

Classic kid drinking hose water picture. At least I know he will never be dehydrated this summer between the hose water, pool water, sprinkler water, and any other water this kid can suck up. If you have not caught on my kid LOVES drinking water.

Yep, that is the way we roll around here in the summer. Summer is just beginning and I'm eating up every last moment.
