Summer Fun and a Giveaway

We are sucking up every single last drop of summertime around here. Our mornings are full of early morning breakfast walks and swinging and sliding on the swingset. We have a snack on the front steps every afternoon and we spend every evening playing with the neighbor kids.

We spend lots of time in our swimsuits and eat lots of blueberries, watermelon, ice cream bars and drink lots of juice boxes. We stay up way too late and finally come inside to wash the day off as the sky is getting dark.

Drake and I made a summer bucket list that includes things like going to the pool and the splash pad and riding our bikes to get ice cream and spending an evening at the horse races. We want to check off each and every one of those items on that list while enjoying our usual weekly trips to the zoo and playdates with friends.

There is just something about summer that invokes a sense of being carefree. We are all happier in the summer and smile a little bit more. I can't help but think of all the amazing summer memories from my own childhood and hope that my kids are making their own priceless memories of long summer days and lazy summer evenings.

Summer Weekends

We live a little differently around here in the summer. We stay up a little later, drink a few more beers, eat a few more grilled hot dogs, take longer walks...we just enjoy. Part of that enjoying for Drake means lots of swimming and spending the whole day in nothing but a diaper.

 I love my dog. LOVE him. Best dog brother in the world (Yes, I just went there and called Skinner Drake's dog brother.) to my little man.

Classic kid drinking hose water picture. At least I know he will never be dehydrated this summer between the hose water, pool water, sprinkler water, and any other water this kid can suck up. If you have not caught on my kid LOVES drinking water.

Yep, that is the way we roll around here in the summer. Summer is just beginning and I'm eating up every last moment.

Summer Lovin'

I always feel like once the 4th of July hits the rest of summer just speeds by! We've had such a great time already this summer but we still have some things to check off our list!

Like:

• Go on vacation-We are doing this next week!
• Celebrate our 5th anniversary by skipping town without Drake for the weekend-Happening this month
• Celebrate my birthday-Just so happens I we will be celebrating this while we celebrate our anniversary since my birthday is the 24th and our anniversary is the 23rd
• Do it up right for Drake's 1st Birthday-Big party is July 31st...so excited
• Take Drake to the Iowa State Fair-Seriously, the.best.fair in the country
• Have a picnic
• Take Drake swimming again
• Play with sidewalk chalk
• Have more bonfires
• Stay out too late having driveway beers with the neighbors
• Let Drake have ice cream in a cone for the first time
• Go on long bikes rides with Drake in tow in our new bike trailer
• Go to the park
• Take Skinner swimming
• Drink big cold glasses of lemonade
• Get a pedicure and have my nails painted the brightest color I can find

I think those things should keep us busy for awhile! I love traditions and hope to make all the items above things we celebrate and look forward to every summer!
