Meet 2-Year-Old Drake

Let me introduce to you my 2-year-old boy. Isn't he so handsome?!?

He is so in love with all of his "friends" he spends hours playing with them. He loves to line them up, make them drive his trucks, and give them baths. In the last few weeks I have heard him really expand on his pretend play by making them talk to each other.

This kid has a heart of gold. He comes up and asks me at least once a day "You OK Momma?" just out of the blue. He reminds us every night to pray before we start eating dinner by yelling out "hands" so we stop and hold hands and pray together.  He loves to come up to you and say "tickle, tickle" as he tickles your tummy.  The best part? He freely gives big kisses and great hugs when asked. I love that.

He talks from the second he wakes up until the second he goes to bed. He has turned into quite the little eavesdropper and we often hear him repeating what we just said in a conversation we did not think he was listening to. He has started saying some very funny things, at very funny times. A few weeks ago we were out to eat and he turned around in the both and told the people behind us "I have 2 daddies." We have no idea where he got that, but we laughed and laughed.

At two he seems so big-he sleeps in a big bed, he plays nicely by himself, he is independent. Yet, he still holds on to some of his babyhood. We have not started working on potty training and probably will not until sometime this winter. He also still has his pacis. He loves them, I love them so they are sticking around for now.

He has also really started standing his ground. The other day he was in trouble for not listening and was in timeout. When 2 minutes were up, I went over and explained to him what he did wrong and asked him to tell me he was sorry. He refused. Instead he choose to sit quietly in time out for 20 minutes with a look of pure determination on his face. He wanted to win. And he did. Smart boy he is.

There is not a day that goes by that I do not thank God for picking us. We are so blessed this little boy landed in our life. Raising him has been the single greatest privilege of my life and I am so honored to be his Momma.

Where the Wild Things Are Party-Part 1

Drake's Birthday Party was a HUGE hit! From the food, to the favors, to the cake...everything was perfect.

I have LOTS of pictures to share of the big day so I thought I would break it up into two posts.

This post mostly includes pictures I took of the favors, decorations, and food before the party started.

Enjoy!

I set up a favor table on a chest right inside my front door.

No Wild Thing party would be complete without quotes from the book!

For the party favors for the kids I filled chinese takeout boxes with bubbles, bouncy balls, water guns, monster finger puppets, and fake bugs.

I topped the box with a sand mold and a mask of a wild thing.

I made cake pops as thank you favors for adults and kids.  I made chocolate with cream cheese frosting and strawberry with vanilla frosting.

I dipped them in melted almond bark  with a few drops of candy melt and sprinkled mini M&M's and sprinkles to add a little more color  to them.

This is the sign I had sitting on the food table.

Our well-loved Where the Wild Things Are book made an appearance at the party

Wild Thing Cake

Cute little fondant Max on the side.

So perfect for the party (my talented neighbor made it ) and even more importantly very yummy!

The food table.

Best picture I got of the birthday boy all day! His shirt says "King of All Wild Things"

Tomorrow I will have pictures from the party!

Drake's Wild Things Birthday Invites

Drake's party is fast approaching in a couple of weeks. First thing I've checked off my list is sending out the  invites.

I'm pretty much in love with them and feel like they set the perfect tone for our Where the Wild Things Are Birthday Party. My good blogging friend Shannon from Sweet Bean Co. was the genius behind these awesome invites.

Like I Need Another Obsession

I love Pinterest. Like, I really, really, really love it.

I have been gathering all sorts of awesomesauce worthy ideas for Drake's Where the Wild Things Are birthday party.

Check it out!

I'm in love. With only a little over two months to go before his birthday, I'm in full on party planning mode. Pinterest is either going to a huge help or a huge burden (due to the many awesome ideas that will just have to do) during the planning process.

Anyways, I'm off to stalk Pinterest some more while my son naps. Obsession I tell you, obsession.

Football or a Classic Book?

I can't believe it is already time to start thinking about Drake's 2nd birthday party! His birthday is still over 3 months away but if you know me you know that I'm a planner and can't help but start planning for it already!

Last year we did a puppy theme and it was a huge success. Drake loved all the dogs and the guests had a great time! I feel the pressure this year to throw another fabulous party and can't wait to get started!

So far I've come up with 2 possible themes-
1. Where the Wild Things Are
2. Football

Drake LOVES reading Where the Wild Things Are and I think I could have a blast and really run with this theme.  Drake also LOVES anything and everything football related and I have a million ideas for this theme.

I know Drake would love either party so I'm having a hard time picking. What do you think?
