I've Got Questions

I've got some questions for all your seasoned Mommas out there. Share what you know!

1. How do you get your kids to eat veggies?!? Drake will not touch ANY!

2. Advice on how to entertain a toddler in the car without using a DVD player.

3. What are some crafts that would be suitable for a 16 month old?

4. Did antibody's kids have their teeth come in stained? If so, what did you do?

Thanks in advance for helping a fellow Momma out!

  1. veggies - give em' some dip (ketchup, mustard, etc.) might help. Puree them and put them in mashed potatoes. Keep offering at every meal, he'll eventually eat them. Once he's older (and he understands) enforce the one bite rule. He has to try one bite of everything before he leaves the table. I did that w/ my boys when they were little and now they'll eat almost any vegetable I offer. Still can't get em' to eat cabbage though!

car entertainment - big bag of little toys scoured from garage sales/Goodwill, etc. I just pass em back one at a time. Usually i can make the destination without much fuss. Also, funny songs (and funny mommy singing)in the CD player helps.

Crafts - STICKERS!!! my daughter loves to put stickers on paper. Then advance to glue sticks and scraps of paper, felt, anything that will stick.

Another one I've done is tape paper in the bottom of a shoe box. Dip a marble in paint, drop it in the shoe box, then roll it around to make lines.

acrylic paint with dish soap mixed in it and let him paint the bathtub walls. Should clean up really easy.

Dry erase marker on the refrigerator or cookie tins....of course, that is if he won't eat the markers....hmmm, that one might have to wait a few months.

Sorry, didn't mean to ramble on so. Good luck!

  2. Crafts? Any crayon type craft or on the stickers. :)

As far as the car...that's the challenge. Silly songs, books to read, or sleeping. That's all I got! We've never had a dvd player in our vehicle and our kids survived...you can do it!

Teeth? Was your little one taking an antibiotic at all when the teeth emerged? I know that can stain teeth. Good thing is -- they're not permanent.

    Blessings~

  5. Hi katie,
First time on your blog. Regarding veggies, Jessica Seinfeld(Jerry's wife) has a book out with recipes incorporating healthy stuff for little ones. She had the same issues with her kids being picky. I don't have it but I have flipped through it several times. We never had a DVD player so our kids just looked at books or just looked out the window. They werent fussy passengers.

  6. Try them frozen. Our little guys love veggies right out of the freezer, I think it feels good on their teeth.
