The Waiting Game

3 weeks from tomorrow is my due date. I am guessing that those 3 weeks are going to drag on...just like the last 3 weeks have. The whole pregnancy has gone super fast until I hit the 34 week mark then every single day seems like a week.

I think part of it is that I am starting to get uncomfortable. Don't get me wrong, I have had an easy pregnancy with no complications so I don't have much to complain about but I think I am still allowed to be a little grumpy about how I feel at this point.
  • I have horrible heartburn and nothing really helps. I have never had this before I was pregnant and will admit that I always thought B was being a baby when he complained about his, I will never think that again!
  • I feel huge-enough said
  • My clothing options are becoming less and less with each passing week. Every morning I go into my closet and dream about the day I can wear my cute tank tops and skinny jeans again
  • Baby C really enjoys hanging out under my ribs and now has gotten so stubborn that no amount of poking and trying to get him to move works
  • Unsolicited advice. I'm not stupid I KNOW my life is going to change, I don't need you to tell me that. "Rest now while you can" is another one I hate. Last time I checked you could not "save" rest in a reserve until you need it. I would actually much rather be up and about doing things and enjoying these last few weeks of just B and I while I can.
To end on a positive note, I am still sleeping great!! Granted, I'm up 2-3 times going to the bathroom but I'm right back to sleep after that! I have also had little to no swelling, have low blood pressure and I'm measuring right on track for my August 13th due date.
He will be here soon!! Stay tuned....

Things I am Enjoying...

  • Watermelon...and LOTS of it
  • Sitting in the sun. Most of my cute summer clothes do not fit, but at least I will not be white as a ghost in my not so fun maternity wear
  • Spending time with B. He does not work Saturday's anymore so we have been able to enjoy the farmers market, long lunches out, and just hanging out. He has worked almost every Saturday since we have been married, so this is a GREAT change
  • The farmers market. I love to go and look, people watch and of course eat
  • Washing and folding all the baby clothes. Baby C has enough that he can probably wear a different outfit for most of his first year
  • Feeling Baby C move around. He has gotten so crazy in there. He is also big enough that I can sometimes feel his little foot, or see him stick his butt out...nothing cuter
  • Snuggling with S in bed. He LOVES to snuggle and this has become a morning routine. He actually thinks he is a person because he like to have his head on a pillow
  • Knowing that a glass of wine, a good pain medication, my awesome allergy med Allegra, a really great workout, my favorite jeans, sleeping on my stomach, and a super hot bath are only 2 months away makes me SO happy
  • Weekend nights hanging out with the neighbors catching up
  • Going on Sunday afternoon drives with B and S
  • Eating DQ ice cream without feeling guilty
It really is the little things in life that make it so much fun!

Dear Baby C...

Dear Baby C,
This is your momma writing you. I wanted to put down in words some things that I hope you learn and pieces of advice I would like to give you.
  • Don't grow up too fast.
  • Try your hardest at everything you do. If you do that your dad and I will always be proud no matter what the outcome.
  • Always remember that some friendship will come and go, but your family is forever.
  • Ride your bike, throw the football around with your dad, catch bugs, play in the mud, and just enjoy the simple things in life.
  • Eat lots of ice cream in the summer
  • Always stand up for yourself. You have to believe in yourself before anyone else will believe in you.
  • Share
  • Read books. This is a great way to escape the real world and go where the book takes you
  • Run and play with your dog, he will be one of your best friends
  • When you start to date, be a gentleman. Open doors for her..she will notice. When in doubt take cues from your dad, he does a pretty good job at treating girls with respect and love.
  • Snow days are for eating junk, watching movie and playing games. You will love these days!
  • Love with all your heart and never hold back, you might get hurt but it is so much better than not loving at all.
  • Play in the sprinkler, jump off the high board at the pool, and get the water guns out at night. That is what summer is for.
  • Always know that you are loved...by me, by your dad, by your nana and papa, and grandma and grandpa, and aunts and uncles, and your cousin, and the so many other people who will meet you and love you. Always remember this.
These are just a few of the things I hope that you will learn. Can't wait to meet you and give you lots of cuddles, love and kisses.
Love,
Your Mom

12 weeks to go...

I know that I have been absent for 2 months! Lots has happened since then, and I will be back on more regular basis from now on, as I want to start a scrapbook for Baby C and thought some of the blog entries would work great in the scrapbook. Here are some highlights of the past 8 weeks:

  • I was able to see Baby C again on the ultrasound. I had an unscheduled doctor's appointment for some minor spotting. I had to go in for my Rhogram shot since I am Rh-(basically my blood and the baby's blood can't mix, so if I have any bleeding, trauma, etc I have to get a shot to build up my antibodies), they ended up do a Non stress Test to make sure I was not having contractions(which I wasn't). They also wanted to a PAP and an internal to make sure I was not dilated(I wasn't) but the doctor said my cervix was unusually high and wanted to do an ultrasound to make sure nothing was pushing up against it(it wasn't). So anyways, that is how I got to see my baby again. B was not there :( so he did not get to see it, but I got some pictures to bring home for him. We also got confirmation that Baby C is still a boy!
  • I traveled to Kansas City for a four day meeting for work. I even had some free time to pick up a super cute comfy pair of sandals at Nordstorms and enjoy dinner on the plaza!
  • B got a new job!!! He no longer works at Wells Fargo and has started at Nationwide. He no longer works Saturdays!!
  • We went to the first farmers market of the season, and had a great time eating breakfast, doing some shopping, and watching people. We have plans to go back again this weekend!
  • We enjoyed a long lunch on the patio at Gateway Market, a bonfire with friends, a wonderful steak dinner with my parents at Rubes, a fun shopping trip, and a long Sunday drive all in one weekend!
  • We celebrated Mother's Day weekend by going to Pella to meet up with one of my best friends T for Tulip time. We had a great time catching up and enjoying all the yummy food. B treated me to dinner out that night at a favorite Mexican place El Patio. On Mother's Day B made a big breakfast that included my favorite...french toast. I then read magazine out in the sun all afternoon and enjoy a yummy dinner at my neighbors.
  • Our golden retriever S, is a big brother! Nope, not to Baby C but to our good friends A and M's new puppy. They got him at the same place we got S, and he has the same parents!
  • Speaking of S, he almost fell out of our car window while we were driving down the road a few weeks ago. He was in the back hanging is head out the window, when B looked back and saw that he had rolled the window down all the way and had his whole front half of his body out the window. Think Marley and Me! We will never go anyplace without the window locks on again!
  • My little sister M graduated from high school last weekend! My other sister E graduated from the U of I!
  • We got a new wall decal for Baby C's room
  • I definitely have a bump now! This is me at 27 weeks!

  • Baby C has a name!! B and I finally agreed on a name. It is top secret until his birthday though!!
  • He love to move and dance around in my tummy. I feel him all day at work and I can see my tummy moving when I lay down at night. So far, he really does not wake me up at night with his movements. Let's hope that continues when he is an outside baby!! A mom can always hope, right?!?!
  • I will be 28 weeks tomorrow. That means roughly 12 more weeks to go. We are excited and nervous all at the same time!!
  • They canceled our birthing class today. We are having trouble finding another we can go to. Might have to just use the trusty Internet as a resource and watch some videos on there.
  • We found out that Baby C will be having lots of friends his age. We know somebody having babies every month from now until December! Congrats to all the other momma's and daddy's to be!!
I will be back soon with more updates and tales from the womb!!
